About Cross Domain Policy

In order to host the Xcelsius RSS Reader Add-in online, you’ll need to use a middleware script to serve as a crossdomain proxy loader. This is needed to get around Flash player’s security sandbox which prevents you from loading XML files from other domains that lack a crossdomain.xml file. The cross domain allows your RSS Reader embedded SWF to make a call to the script, then script handles the external URL call, returning the result as a local XML file for your dashboard. This leveraging of serverside scripting in order to load the RSS feed via a proxy script is taken care of for you. We provide you cross domain scripts in the following formats (PHP, .NET and JSP) or you can link directly to our hosted cross domain files in our resource directory.

Deploying Cross Domain Scripts

  1. Uploaded the server compatible cross domain file to a directory that is accessible to your hosted dashboard.
  2. Open the Xcelsius RSS Add-in Property Sheet
  3. Enable Proxy
  4. Select Proxy Type
